In Dorohedoro, Devils are humans that have been elevated to a near god-like state by a ritual training process that completely alters their bodies and minds. Devils are neither good nor evil, but agents of extreme chaos. Every action they take is driven by one goal: Fun. They can be magnanimous, playful, guilelessly cruel, or incredibly violent. They grant wishes, play pranks, and kill with impunity. Devils also love games, and will freely gamble with their own lives, just to keep things interesting. Of course, their true purpose is to torture souls in hell for all eternity, but even this grim duty is performed with an air of joy and whimsy.

It's no surprise that Devils are feared and respected by the humans around them. Interestingly, they are also known to be masters of the arts. Upon attaining devilhood, they typically choose a hobby like the fine arts, singing and dancing, or even cooking. Devils will focus on these hobbies to the exclusion of all else and will drop everything to engage in their craft anytime they feel like it, even if puts themselves in danger.
